Upgrade Mama Instant Noodles Into Gourmet Tom Yum
Today Chef Tou is showing us how to upgrade a pack of Mama instant noodles into a delicious tom yum noodle soup. This is a super fast recipe so hold onto your hat. This kind of dish is becoming popular in Thai restaurants with some examples having everything but the kitchen sink in the bowl. Chef Tou shows us how to make this super easy dish at home.

Here’s the recipe:

500ml water
4 Large fresh water prawns
2 tbsp of nam prig pao
2 tbsp of fish sauce
2 tbsp of evaporated milk
1 pack of Mama tom yum flavour noodles
(Use the sachets in the pack)
Juice from one lime
3 thick slices of galangal
3 makrut lime leaves roughly cut
3 pieces of lemongrass
A pinch of sugar
Dry roasted chilli and coriander to decorate

As with all Asian cooking this is a rough guide with regards to amounts, adjust for your own taste and spice tolerance.
If you want to make it spicier then toast birds eye chillies instead of large sweet chilli.
Good luck and let us know how you get on.

Enjoy!!!!!!!

  1. It has the vibes of "Jeh O Chula" but easier to make. Add whatever seafood / meat topping and one is halfway there minus the long queues

  2. That’s my favourite packet of noodles. Some Asda shops stock it. I usually add egg yolk and not bother with milk ( what would I use rest for?) part of that and maepranom chilli paste I do it exactly like that

  3. I did a combination of a knorr tom yum cube, a bit of nam prik pao and some mae ploy chilli past in oil. Mmm. It works really well with those instant noodles.

  4. Also add delicious vegetables: Peeled deseeded fresh tomatoes (bite size), oyster mushrooms (peel slices bite size), vegetables (choy sum), kafir leaves, I like can luncheon meat (bite size) & half teaspn of bovril, Tom yum paste (1 tsp) or 1/5 tom yum cube including seasoning pack, lime juice, fish sauce, prawns meat, coconut milk powder (1 tbsp).(aggreable). 😊😊😊
