Originally released in 1978 on the small Puddlebrook label, The Kids Are OK! is a rare UK folk-rock album by Bob Hughes, following his earlier work with Maggies Farm, his solo album My Old Man, and the Hooknorton project In For A Penny…. Recorded quickly at Spaceward Studios, the album expands Hughes’ acoustic roots into a fuller band sound while keeping a strong focus on melody and songwriting.
Long out of print and never officially reissued, the record has remained largely unknown outside collector circles. This reissue restores an overlooked independent release, capturing a transitional moment in late-1970s British folk and singer-songwriter music. It fits the kind of “real people” private-press discovery often championed by collector and archivist Paul Major.
