Chapoutier is one of the greatest producers in the Rhône Valley.
We’re talking about wines from Hermitage and Côte-Rôtie that rank among the best in the world.
But for years, there was a gap.
The top wines were legendary.
The entry-level wines? Not always at the same level.
That’s changing.
The Crozes-Hermitage Blanc “Les Meysonniers” 2022 feels like the moment where everything clicks. The quality from the top has finally started to show up in the more accessible wines.
And that’s a big deal.
This is 100 percent Marsanne, the signature white grape of the northern Rhône, sourced from organically farmed vineyards with vines ranging from 20 to 40 years old.
The winemaking is all about purity.
Native fermentation, mostly stainless steel aging, and little to no oak. The goal is to let the fruit and texture speak for themselves.
And they do.
In the glass, the wine is rich and layered.
Floral notes, golden fruit, and a slightly oily texture that gives it weight, balanced by freshness that keeps it lively and drinkable.
This is not heavy white wine.
It’s dense, but lifted. Textural, but precise.
Critics took notice.
94 points from James Suckling, confirming what we’re seeing in the glass.
The original price was around $45.
Today, it’s $26.98.
For a wine from this level of producer, delivering this kind of quality, that’s a serious opportunity.
If you’ve been curious about white Rhône wines, this is one of the best places to start.
