
Krug 169 (magnum)
This was just stunning. I really like bringing mags of champagne to events, especially the gala, because they always show well, and at the end of the night with palate fatigue all people want to drink is champagne.
For its part, the wine was phenomenal. Lemon curd, lightly toasted brioche, and a bit of hay on the nose, with intense palate power with fruit and acidity in great balance. Fine bead and mousse. The finish was superbly long and clean. Just amazing. It did open up a bit more over the course of a couple hours but was surprisingly friendly right out of the gate.
