Considering putting an offer on a place built in the 60s with not a ton of updates done since then. Help me reimagine it to be something lightly better? Not super willing to paint wood despite struggling with what to do with the wooden walls. Help!
Edit: some willingness to paint the fake wood paneling (not the living room which I think is real), no willingness to paint wooden closet doors.

This place is really nice, definitely has potential. I think the kitchen looks great with those cabinets (it reminds me of teak) very mcm. I would just paint the walls and add a backsplash. For the wooden walls, you can really make them work, once you add curtains and artwork it can really add to the mcm look, if that’s what you like.

I think it has a ton if potential! To me, the issue is the tiled (dropped?) ceiling and the wood panel curtain valances. Are the kitchen and dining floors sheet vinyl? The living room floor is beautiful.

If you find those to be relatively easy/affordable renos, then I recommend painting the non-paneled walls white and living with it for a year. After some time, you’ll have ideas for the bathroom (how much storage you actually need) and countertops. Some people might hate me… but I’d paint the fireplace surround and keep the wood paneling.
