On Friday, June 8, 2018, renowned chef, writer, and TV star Anthony Bourdain died in Strasbourg, France. Bourdain began his career in food as a cook in New York City, eventually becoming the executive chef at Brasserie Les Halles. After his passing, fans gathered in the entry way of his former restaurant to memorialize him. They left flowers and notes, wine and cigarettes—in honor of a beloved chef, who traveled through the world with curiosity, wit, empathy, and appetite.
