This is probably the best French onion dip I’ve ever had, and I don’t say that because I made it. The Flavors are so balanced, plus the only no spices, just a few fresh herbs, and some slowly caramelized onions create the most complex flavor profile. I hope you give this recipe a try, and I’m so glad you stopped by for a visit. Hope the day is an amazing one, love you all so much.
Ingredients:
3Tbl, 42g of unsalted butter
2 medium/large onions finely diced, about 550g
3 cloves, 9g of garlic minced
2c, 480g of sour cream
1/4c, 55g of mayonnaise we used Dukes Mayo
2Tbl, 3g of fresh chopped chives
1Tbl, 2g of fresh chopped parsley
1tsp, 5ml (a splash) of Worcestershire sauce
salt and pepper to taste (I used 3/4tsp, 3g each)
Directions:
1) In a large skillet heat butter over medium heat, when the butter is ready add the onions to the pan, cook the onions on medium heat for 3-4 minutes, then turn the heat to low and caramelize the onions for about 25-30 minutes or until they reach a deep golden-brown color, but not burnt. Place onions in a container and let cool 15 minutes at room temperature the in the refrigerator for another 30.
2) In a large mixing bowl combine the sour cream, mayo, chives, parsley, salt, pepper, Worcestershire sauce, and caramelized onions, mix together completely.
3) Place the dip back into the fridge, let sit in the refrigerator for a minimum of 2 hours, up to overnight (8 hours). The flavors get better the longer it stays in the fridge.
4) Serve cold, enjoy with friends and family
