We have bought this little lake cottage and love the woody vibe, but it came with a lot of dark curtains. I would like to use furnishings to brighten (or at least soften) the darkness. Both guest bedrooms have 2 windows with baseboard heat below. I am thinking to replace the cafe curtains with longer, maybe cream colored drapes. It’s 6 ft from the top of the windows to the top of the baseboard heat units. Blinds for privacy with drapes to block light as needed is also a possibility.

There’s a lot of warmth and warm colours in the room due to the wood, so I’d opt for cool coloured curtains and bedding to balance the space. Cream coloured drapes, much like the neutral bedding in the photo, won’t compliment the space.
