while this is cool I do think that huge organizations should absolutely not treat linux like a "it's free so we save all of the licensing" thing and instead allocate some of their budget to donate towards these projects
I find it ironic that Valve is calling 8GB of VRAM "limited", but yet it's a part of their Steam Machine specification.
So in essence, they're calling their own upcoming hardware "limited".
Your ability to simplify concepts is remarkable, much appreciated
Great move, France! Hope the whole EU will follow this step ASAP.
Air 🙀🙀🙀😻😻😻
Well done, France.
I wish the majority in Germany would finally do this too! But the Microsoft lobby is still too strong!
transition away from windows should be good even for people who do not want to use linux themselves. Windows licenses make up a decent chuck of public funding for government organisations, money saved there means more of the taxes paid go to things that directly improve peoples lives
23:55 well if you want to know, I was riding a lawnmower while listening to your episode!
Go France!
If physical graphics cards were software code, the 8 GB models would have been marked as "DEPRECATED" 4 years ago 🙂
We are being held back in innovation and by costly resources in order to magically make things work at lower VRAM sizes.
In some cases for modern state of the art games, it would be cheaper for the developers to just pay for the BOM cost of the RAM (Normal November prices) to each player buying their game, rather than to pay for the resources to make their game fit 8GB.
It is staring to become that insane now.
Calling it "limited vram" is a good thing. That is not enough vram for modern era and GPU vram upgrades have stagnated significantly. It's a significant problem if you look at the history of GPU releases. It's not just about optimization + there is a lot of benefits to storing more and more in VRAM since that's significantly faster than using RAM or disk. We NEED companies like Valve to call out that 8 gigs is not enough anymore, since Nvidia and AMD are selling us gpus with less for more every gen.
Small correction imho. Millions of lies by AI doesn't mean millions of people believing wrong information. Luckily many people still catch AI mistakes/lies and thus the number is much lower. Still too high, but you know. I catch AI lying a lot. Which means I didn't believe it. I'm not immune obviously, but 1 lie =/= a lie believed as real.
At the same time, the Dutch tax office is migrating TO office 365 copilot subscriptions. After 60 years, the EU is still consistently inconsistent.
i am not as anti-ai as some others. auto complete is probably fine but a human does need to be accountable. I think the policy is just right.
So glad to see work on Oxygen ❤
as a French my self, accenting the white in flag was absolutly not necessary…
Hypocrites in France don’t want Microsoft to have their data, yet they’re implementing mass surveillance on their subjects, too. Rules for you but not for me. They want Linux because they know they can ensure what they do isn’t tracked. Scumbags.
Is the su 35 new radar built by china ? Has China given Putin the technology to manufacture riscv chips for missiles?
When will illumos release their RISC v kernel for enterprise? What was said at foss 2026?
The UK too…
Thanks to this channel, I have finally ordered my first Tuxedo computer – waiting for my TUXEDO Gemini 17 – Gen4 – AMD! 🙂
work on the air theme can also be used on a windows xp & vista theme
still limited vram if we look at modern gaming
this vid is what i listen to when i fold my laundry
I'm not a big fan of Trump, but a lot of good things seem to coming out of him shaking the world awake as to the tenuous situation it was in before. Europe will come out of this strengthened, a shame here in South America we're walking backwards as usual.
Listening to you while doing laundry. 😂
Wouldn't it be easier to just ask the user to confirm that what they're plugging in is a keyboard?
Ubuntu might not be the better choice. I think Ubuntu wants to be a mini-microsoft and is moving towards closed solutions. Debian might. be better
couldn't you just add a popup when you plug in a USB device that says something like, "Is this USB device a keyboard?" and then use that to prevent the device from doing stuff it shouldn't be able to.
Listening while painting some wood!

Most computers will be verified with an adult even if kids are in the household. Companies can just query the OS age and collect all the data they want without being held accountable if they happen to collect a minor's data because the OS said they were adults. That's why if age attestation comes to my OS and i cant find a work around, I will self report as someone under 10.
Digital sovereignty for the state not for the people
If you blindly trust the information AI has given to you without further verification it's not the AI that is the problem. There is plenty of written false info out there written by people. If you want to verify something and you're happy with the first result AI has given you you most likely would also be happy with the first wrong info someone else would've given to you.
didn't most of us started very young on a OS and having great time, and back then no shit things, like age v. crap what is only a idea of older ppl now who "loves" children and not knowing what a OS is. sick of those shitty ppl.
Why is KDE focusing on other themes when their base theme is pretty mid (inconsistent, not great icons, pretty mid dark mode etc.). It's a typical Linux mentality of "let's spread our efforts across 10 areas and not polish any of them completely"…
As long as real developers review the code, I have 0 issues with AI code in the products I use. It's not like with AI assistants or features that are annoying and actually impacting your experience.
The USB device issue could have repercussions. Hardware security keys, barcode readers, and magstripe readers all interface as a keyboard and could trigger false positives.
Vive la Linux francaise 🇫🇷🥳
Live and Congratulations to France !
11:20 USBGuard already exists for this purpose. Coding any sort of criteria might be counter productive being how the open source nature o fit will simply have the attackers compensate for it. But and automatic block of new devices, with a more user friendly notification system and manual review/allowance would certainly go a long way.
