@frenchie.melb is a new bar and restaurant fittingly located at the Paris end of Collins St, Melbourne’s CBD 🇫🇷
Everything on the menu is $14 or under. Food, drinks, caviar, champagne – the lot.
It feels very late night Parisian supper club – playful and theatrical. Moody lighting, red velvet and mirrors. It’s fuss free and unpretentious.
The menu features small dishes inspired by French bistro classics – but with a modern twist.
Order via the staff or through the QR code – my tip is to do so in courses for good pace.
There’s also a roaming trolley that circles the room offering caviar bumps, champagne and vodka shots which adds a fun touch!
⭐ Oysters, champagne granita – refreshing!⭐ Blue swimmer crab, cucumber, avocado, choux pastry – Loved the filling and the pastry was light⭐ Seared tuna, peppercorn sauce, crispy frites – never had this combination and it works well!✔️ Rumsteak, entrecôte sauce – slightly chewy, thinly sliced, good crust⭐ Steak tartare – the perfect steak tartare!✔️ Parisian gnocchi, parmesan & truffle oil – light and pillowy, subtle truffle flavour and lots of cheese⭐ Chips – well seasoned and crisp⭐ Brussel sprouts, smoky cheddar bechamel – unreal. Crispy, cheesy, would convert any hater!✔️ Cordon Bleu – crispy, cheesy⭐ Chocolate Mousse – the perfect consistency, sweetness and added texture on top⭐ Crème Brûlée – small, shallow but exceptional
Normally you wouldn’t catch me at a brand new restaurant, I will usually wait a month or two minimum for them to find their feet first. But heck for this pricepoint i genuinely don’t believe you can complain.. not that i needed to, I thought it was amazing.
Plates you would be paying upwards of $25 anywhere else. We (over?)indulged and our total bill came to $222 for everything listed above.
Perfect for a date night or group nights out – this is going to be very popular, definitely worth the hype.
