Rug covering entire dining area

This is not the final design I want, I wanted to see if this size rug would fit before I invest in one that I truly want. My table is about 6×3.5 feet, so going with a 6×9 rug would make the chair legs hang off the edge. Yes, I need to update a lot of my space. Need paintings on the wall, centering the light fixture, fix the curtains but I’m just concerned about 8×10 rug in a 10×10 space. I would also need to pull the rug thats next to the wall a little closer so it aligns better. Or is it better to go bare? I considered a rug because there are some damages to the floor so just a way to hide it for now.
