  1. I tend to focus on any region that runs throughout the southern part of France for value. Cote du Rhone all day for those varietals that don't break the bank including a sneaky good Domaine du Durban Rouge I got recently for $18. I was only familiar with their Beaume de Venise, so seeing the red on the shelf was a pleasant surprise.

Also Chateau Lilian Ladouys from Saint Estephe is a good value find from Bordeaux. I am currently building up the vertical of this wine and look forward to sharing it with some friends.

  2. It was while watching a video of a Korean who came to France that I wanted to taste the wines of Savoie, especially Savagnin. It's really out of the ordinary and I really liked it (Côtes du Jura – Savagnin 2020 – Domaine de Savagny – 15.20€). otherwise for everyday use like most people I like "les darons" by Jeff Carrel from Languedoc-Roussillon for €7.2, and as an everyday sparkling wine, and close to champagne, the "prestige" cuvée Louis de Vauclerc in Craonnelle for €12.50.😅

  3. Value for money from France? Cotes du Rhone. Cotes de Bordeaux with the wines from Cadillac taking me by surprise but all these wines need to be about six years of age or the taster won't be impressed. And I think Graves region but I need more experience with the area to be real solid on this one. I might recommend some others but I want more experience with them to be more confident. Also, before I forget, Cremant.

  4. thank you for the great episode! very informative. the rose reminded me of the ones from Anjou. there are great ones there for under 10€. I'm excited to see what you open next week… and yes. champagne is not to spit. can you introduce German sparkling wine? there are great ones that have been stored on yeast for years… should be right up your bread

  5. I recently bought a case of 2019 Jean-Paul Brun Terres Dorées "Les Thorins". moulin a vent. 21€ per bottle. Though here in Portugal the only way I can get it is through Millesima, so it may cost even less elsewhere. That said, I have ZERO problems paying €21 for it. It is an absolutely beautiful and fantastic wine. Gamay at its finest to be sure!

  6. Dr… you got some real good ones here . I’ve had a few of them… another French white that’s very affordable are sauv blanc from Loire excl oriceier sancerre of course. Some real good red, Bourgueil from The Loire too. If you can find anything from Fronton close to Toulouse .thanks for your vids..

  7. One of the best wines of last year was a white Burg I paid 17€ for. It blew me away. Many times have I been disappointed by budget Burg (<40€) but that was a winner. Crozes-Hermitage and Loire are other French regions I find value in. And now I remember having a great wine from Savoie, paying around 30€ in a restaurant.
