too many people sleep on hard ciders. You got all the alcohol with just a bit of sweetness and a good tasting product.
Just get cremant if you want something pretty close to champagne
Italian here, none of these alternatives even stand up to the champagne experience. Props for mentioning cider tho, I am also a producer

Freixenet is excellent. Easily the best sparkling wine I’ve had in my life. Not exactly cheap but well worth the price for a special occasion
