ABOUT US:
Hello! I’m Vivienne, the châtelaine of a small 19th century neo-Renaissance castle in the Loire Valley of France, which I share with my delightful (and wonderfully funny!) husband, Simon, our daughter, and —whenever possible— lovely friends and family.
This is not our first chateau! 23 years ago, we bought a much larger castle nearby, which we loved with all our hearts. However, nearly 2 decades, many happy memories, countless renovations, and several small fortunes later, we made the very difficult, empty-nesting decision to downsize. With great luck and perseverance, we found our current petit château, which we are now decorating and updating with love, humour, comfort, and —of course— antiques and art!
We adore France and its many unique facets: its people, culture, landscapes, wine, food, art, and history. We also love being surrounded by châteaux, both public and private, which we can explore together! After 20 years here, we have learned many things about living in France, renovating châteaux, and appreciating the extraordinary riches surrounding us. We originally decided to make these videos as a way to share our lives with our loved ones worldwide during the pandemic lockdowns. However, we soon realised that many others are at home alone, and it is our privilege to open our home to you, our new friends. We hope you will join us on our adventures in this exceptional location, and we look forward to sharing a little Château Love!

Yes, I'm one of those who watches all of you, and it's so interesting to see when vlogs overlap. I feel like I know all of you! When you said something "was the bomb," I laughed because it was obvious how comfortable you felt with a fellow American. And thanks for the tour, because they haven't given one of the whole place recently.
These new chatelains are fun to watch; they inject new life into the old castles. I know care & upkeep of these places is exhausting. The new spin on the decoration of each is fascinating. You all have lively imaginations. Thanks for sharing with us all.

Such amn equisite Chateau and very talented people! Stuart and Patrick are such hospitable people and it is lovley how they took such time in showing thier chateau! When joining all of you I feel like I am part of the family of Chateau owners! My mind just blends right in and I find myself giggling right along with you . The 'Chandielrs ' in each toom was selected just as they needed to be and looked like they truly did belong in those special places! So beautiful, every detail was through out, and just seems that everythng blended so well together, Anyone would think they were orignal pieces that belonged there since day one!
Can just see how lovely the Chapel will be one day, and it really was cozy and intimately structured. Just a place where the family am sure, spent many hours even by themselves, during very trying and joyful times, during thier lives, praying for all to go well for them, as wel as for all those they knew.
Vivienne and Simon cannot ever say enough about you both and think so much of you, and love how Vivienne always has the right way to express herself. Simon is such a great sport! Can see that you both are perfect for each other! Can just imagine how lovely your wedding day must have been! You cherish any gift given and it is true Vivienne you are the most astonishing gift giver I have met. ( Well we have not really "met," lol but I feel like it as certainly have been watching you . Simon and Isabella uite a while now and truly am part of Chateau Diaries and do watch others as well. But mostly the two of you and of coourse Follwing Dan as he is renovating his fantastic chateau with quite a fabluous history behind it!
Lovely to meet the guests and the rooms for the guests were beyond perfect! The cute dog was so full of expressions! lol I hink he was a Terrier of a standard type perhaps? Well now can say I have added Chateau de Colombe to them all.

Vivienne and Simon, that was perhaps the best tour of Château de Colombe, which I have seen to date. Your hosts, Patrick and Stuart, are two of the most gracious and giving individuals, much like yourselves. They, also, serve a decent meal and dessert; one's taste buds certainly should be satiated. I also like Patrick's auction find, a reproduction of an Egyptian Pharaoh copied from the Musée du Louvre; Curtis Ryan Woodside would approve. 😂 Those gifted chairs sound like a perfect fit for your primary suite renovation, albeit with an upholstery project attached… but you're up to the challenge. All the Châtelains seem to aquire multiple skills along the way. Looking forward to your progress back at your own castle. Hugs and love 🏰
