Angelina Jolie: a famous American actress, filmmaker, and humanitarian. But how did a little girl from a broken home grow up to become one of Hollywood’s leading actresses?

Angelina Jolie was born on June 4th, 1975 in Los Angeles, California to Jon Voight and Marcheline Bertrand. Though her nationality is American, she has mixed ethnicity – German, Dutch, French, Canadian, and Slovak.

After her parents got separated in 1976, Angelina had to live with her mother, who had dropped her acting career to focus on raising her children. Marcheline raised Angelina the Catholic way but the little girl always refused to go to church.

Although Angelina was the daughter of successful actors, it was the films she watched with her mother as a child that inspired her interest in acting. Her debut appearance was in the movie, “Lookin’ to Get Out,” which was co-written by her father. Angelina was only seven years old when she acted in the movie in 1982.
