SS L’Atlantique was launched on April 15th, 1930 by Compagnie de Navigation Sud-Atlantique. The new luxury liner was an Art Deco masterpiece intended to boost trade between France and South America. But early in her career, she was destroyed by a devastating fire that claimed the lives of 19 crew members.
