Everything French (kind of). Want A Cup of Coffee? Feast Your Eyes to These Delicacies [2021]

These are the reasons why I love France:

1. The food- From gourmet feasts featuring foie gras, snails and duck to freshly baked croissants and baguettes for breakfast, French food is, in our opinion, the best in the world.
2. The stunning scenery- France has it all – majestic mountain ranges, spectacular coastline, field of lavender, medieval villages and stylish towns.
3. The French language- Known as the language of love, French is a beautiful language and we love discovering new words and phrases every day.
4. Shutters- Is there anything more French than a classic blue shutter? It is definitely top of our French property wish list.
5. The mountains- With no less than five mountain ranges, France certainly has something for everyone whether you want to scale Mont Blanc or hike the Jura. No matter how often you visit the mountains they will take your breath away every single time.
6. French festivals- The French have a festival for everything, be it the humble strawberry or the beginning of democracy. Whenever and where-ever you go you can be sure the French are holding a festival about something!
7. The climate- Whether you like scorching hot days on the beach or wading through snow to the shops, there will be an area of France where the climate suits you. And with so many micro-climates you don’t have to go too far south to find a bit of sunshine.
8. The wine- The Loire Valley, Bordeaux, Burgundy… France is home to world-famous wines as well as plenty of delicious local vintages. It would be rude not to try it!
9. Paris- As Audrey Hepburn said: ‘Paris is always a good idea’. The stunning architecture, café terraces, world-class museums, major attractions… we could never tire of Paris.
10. French markets- One of the best things about France is the markets. Whether it is a local produce market or a giant flea market we just can’t resist browsing the stalls.
11. The vineyards- Is there a more beautiful view than an autumnal vineyard? You don’t have to travel far in France to discover a vineyard and often there are opportunities for a little degustation too…
12. French properties- We may be biased but French properties are just stunning. And there is so much variety – old stone farmhouses, grand manor houses, Provencal villas, Parisian apartments, half-timbered homes and period village houses, how can one possibly choose?
13. The coast- Bordering both the Atlantic and Mediterranean seas, France has plenty of coastline, from glamorous Riviera beaches to rugged coves.
14. Historical sites and museums- France has 38 UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including the Loire Valley châteaux, Carcassonne and Mont-Saint-Michel, and a museum for just about everything so if you’re into history you’ll never get bored!
15. Café culture- Is there a better way to spend a sunny afternoon that sipping un café and watching the world pass you by?
16. French films- We love a good French film and have regular debates as to our favourite.
17. French villages- There are 153 villages classified as the Plus Beaux Villages de France (the most beautiful villages in France) and hundreds more than could easily be on the list.
