I know it’s become kind of lazy to post about Cornellisen wines, but it was my first time trying them.

The thing that I really liked about this wine was the combination of earthy flavors—there was significant Brett and VA, with fruit and floral notes. Blood orange, strawberry, and rose were met by saddle leather and balsamic.

This reminded me a lot (in ethos, not taste) of Loire Valley Cabernet Franc. When it hits, it’s a combination of barnyard and ripe fruit.

My only complaint is that I feel like this was picked a bit early. At 12.5 percent, I feel like this could have been transcendent at 13.5, allowing more concentrated fruit notes to harmonize with the early elements.
