I'm currently living in Bordeaux, so I've been trying to take advantage of the availability of wine as much as possible. I got this at a wine bar, but in general, wine is *very* popular here; in some places, it's cheaper than beer, and my roommates have a wine fridge. Supermarket wine sections are larger than some actual wine shops I've been to. I've been astounded by the quality I can get here for <25 € (the same stuff would cost at least $40 back home; meanwhile, my roommates say spending above 10 € is too much)

Forgive me for the informal nature of the notes, I'm a college student (and write like one…) and was definitely getting progressively drunker as time went on. Purchased by the glass, so no bottle pictures, unfortunately.

Cadillac (Cotes de Bordeaux) – Les Coteaux de la Rame 2022

medium dark red color, opaque. first scent: very fresh. elderberry. raspberry. not many spices. it's like fruit juicy almost. mid tannins. very full flavor. long finish with some mild saltiness? maybe licorice-y. not much bitterness. a very nice intro bordeaux. a bit of wheatiness in there i think (nimki taste). i'm getting very mild spices but it's mostly overwhelmed by a very specific acidity almost like balsamic vinegar but sweeter. this would kill with some camembert

Sauternes – Chateau Tuyttens 2022

that is GOLDEN. it's beautiful omg. a little bit of like oiliness inside asw. it smells like flowers and sweetness. lychee. a tiny hint of acidity in the sweetness of the smell. i lowkey smell a bit of spice too. after swishing even moreso. that is like nectar. it is beautiful. it might be the best sweet drink ever. short finish with ultra mild bitterness. yeah there's definitely a tiny bit of pepper that's there if it stays on your tongue long enough. still only really getting lychee. a bit of earthiness??? a bit of sour like pear maybe. no, more apricot. cantaloupe YES that's it. it has like a bit of a thick texture in mouth just like oil which is crazy. I'd eat this with Cantaloupe fs. basically no finish. this with those red chicken kebabs tandoori would go crazy!!!
