Red meat, cheese, baguettes, chocolate, and red wine…not just on special occasions…but everyday… My friend Estelle from Pau tells me how her parents always have a glass of wine (or two) with each meal every day. They also indulge in full-fat milk and cream. The main beverages consumed in France are water, coffee, and wine. Sugary soft drinks are rare treats, and most children don’t drink much juice. Despite all indulgences, the French have much lower rates of obesity than we do in the USA. The main difference why Americans consume more calories is that the food in the USA isn’t as flavorful. Real food satisfies more than a huge box of the chemicals. Most French have a thin silhouette and you don’t see the bulging associated with fast/junk food…and that makes being stylish and chic easier. Enjoy!
