First things first, I dont know anything about wine. Just drinking whatever is offered to me.

Grandma is leaving her old house in september. She is getting old and cannot take care of her big house by herself. We found a nice flat for her close to us. We are slowly going through all her stuff, trying to determine whats worth keeping, selling or throwing away.

My late grandpa used to buy a lot of wine. There is about 30-40 bottles in the basement. All of those have been stored on the side in a lightless basement. Cant tell you about temperature though. The old house is in the north of France. Dont know if that helps.

Long story short, I'd love if you guys could help me determine if any of those have value being sold, or even drank for that matter…

Any input is welcome ! Thanks in advance !

Fill level looks rough on a couple of those. My suggestion is to cellar them and enjoy them with grandma while she’s around

Probably not much value but I like Ch Lagrange a lot and would want to drink it. Hard to resell wine that is very old without being able to prove storage conditions. Most of these wines don’t look like they are collector worthy. These are def worth drinking though. Some won’t be good hit go for it. And repost with notes!

The 95’ pipeau, and the 02’ Latour are probably the only bottles that might still resemble wine (rest are almost certainly vinegar). I can’t see anybody paying more than $50-100/bottle and to find that buyer is not worth the hassle. If I was you I’d get the family together, crack them open and make a story in gramps name.

Pick of the bunch for me would be the Latour. Should drink well.

I’d suggest that the others are beyond their best (also vintages like ‘69 & ‘’67 weren’t great in the first place!).

Nonetheless, I’d enjoy trying them. Some will still have life left in them.
