Get onboard as the mybottleshop.com team give their thoughts on Sullivan Cove in particular and Australian whisky in general.
Sullivans Cove Double Cask DC102 (45.2% ABV) has been produced using whiskies matured in a combination of three French oak ex-tawny casks, aged between 10 and 11 years old, and four American oak ex-bourbon casks, aged between 11 and 13 years old.
This latest release from the Tasmania based distillery, is said to deliver notes of baking rye bread with walnuts, a woodworking shed, coconut, cocoa, honey, beeswax and orange cake on the nose. Followed by honey, canned peaches in syrup, spice, almonds, oat biscuits and briny coastal notes on the palate.
Commenting on the launch, Heather Tillott, Production Manager, said: “This whisky is quietly confident, like a gentle leader. The characteristic citrus-honey Sullivans Cove note is strong with this one, and the bees have been busy here, too.”
