French food in Shanghai? YES, PLEASE!
Remember that Hell’s kitchen beef wellington? I am going to try that in one of the most highly rated French restaurant in Shanghai, China: 蝶舍·MAISON PAPILLON
It has been selected as Black Pearl 1 Diamond restaurant by Dianping, which is basically the Chinese Michelin’s guide, with food quality comparable to Michelin 1 star.
Of course the best restaurants in Shanghai all need prime location, it’s located near the heart of Shanghai and it’s in an old-fashioned Shanghai townhouse (老上海小洋房). The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Service was very prompted, and the food was exceptional.
We sampled the lunch set menu, RMB658 for 2 people. The portion is not big, but enough for most people. Everything was top quality except the dessert, which left something to be desired.
The two meat dishes- Roasted Chicken Roulade and Signature Beef Wellington was phenomenal, some of the best I’ve ever tried.
It was overall an outstanding experience and I certainly would like to come back again.
