In 1977, two women opened a tiny takeout shop on Columbus Avenue called The Silver Palate. Five years later they wrote a cookbook that sold millions of copies, has been a bestseller for almost 50 years, and quietly rewired how North American home cooks’ palates. This is the story of that book, and what happens when you cook its recipes today.

  1. I love this cookbook! This one as well as the follow up are wonderful, even just to read. This was my first step into the wider world of cuisine.
