Welcome Back!
More progress on my lime mortar stone pointing! The garden gets well needed attention, and i’m treating myself to a tasty lunch so join me for another day at “a new life in central France”
Simple French Bread for one recipe (chez Chris)
Ordinary no frills white flour (any one you like) 500g (ish)
Bread yeast
Add yeast to tepid water… just a little
Mix in Flour and gently fold to get a wet but sticky ball of bread dough.
cover and leave until it rises
dough should double at least in size…
gently remove from bowl with extra flour to avoid sticking..
mould your desired loaf gently to avoid losing aeration within the dough..
place on high tray in an oven at 210c for 25 minutes
remove from oven and enjoy with salted butter and a wedge of cheese ( red wine optional)

You accomplish a lot in a day! Hard worker! The wall looks so good.
Cheers!
The table and chairs look great.
The wall is transforming before our eyes.
I'd swear that you've made two different breads in the last few weeks. Bravo!
Your vlogs are always enjoyable.
❤ from TX!
How's ur renovation, going? With Ben? ❤😂
❤
The bistro chairs look great
Beware a clear roof on the sunroom will be very hot in the summer I know
as I've got one
I had a great weekend went to see a live show was awesome
Enjoy your day Chris ❤
I like when the roof has some clear ,the rest darker ,it looks like skylights .
The great music
The G&T put me in the mood too!!
I just forgot, for a moment, I live in Australia and its early morning, coffee time 😅
The walls is beautiful ❤
I agree Chris. A clear roof would make it very hot on the porch. Also I have seen wall-mounted small fans that would help to circulate the air. I guess that you could find ones that are solar-powered as you should only need them during the day.
I love the food you prepare. I also love your rock wall you are pointing. It looks great!!
Love watching you!
I admire how busy you keep yourself, keep happy!
I do miss the girls. They are fond of you, you know.
U know ?😮😢😅 its easier, for English speaking, natives ! To learn French. Then visa versa.❤
How long did that take u all? Chris😂 (pointing& fini)
U got cold feet😂? Come down under BRO😅😊
You will fry if you get clear roofing panels. Maybe try cleaning the panels you already have and see what you think.
CHEERS❤😂
Hi Chris..living in Canberra we get very hot summers and my pergola has had a couple of roofs over the years…darker is better..i did the last iteration on what we call corregated iron roofing or tin to you guys with clear darkened plexi on the ends to let light in. You possibly could do a combination of dark and clear as well…just a suggestion.❤
Love, love, love your rescued cafe set! Green is my favorite color! Thank you for documenting your life! It is the life I’ve always dreamed of. Very rustic and down to earth. Lunch so happens to be my favorite meal of the day😂! Your vlogs satisfy my soul! I love making bread. My favorite is sour dough because it is so basic and hardy. I am diffinetly going to try making the flat bread you made on this vlog. Rock on MonsieurChris❤️🙋🏾
Chris, do you have solar? I can’t remember if you installed a couple panels when you redid that roof on the other building. Would be great if you could put a couple solar panels on the roof of the lean to as it is a sun-trap. May be a bit pricey, but they would pay off over time. 😊❤
Good evening Chris 🌷🐝🪻🦋 The wall is looking amazing! Great job on the bistro table set! Love the color and it looks perfect! Your flat bread is what I was calling Naan bread that is quick n easy to make, so yours looked delicious! Thank you for sharing 🤗❤️
You’re our fav you tuber now. Love the wall and the green bistro set. G&T too. Great job all the way around. One ? Salt in the bread?
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😊
Watching a cement mixer go round is mesmerizing like watching a washer or dryer rotate!
Can you get a replacement roof with panels that open and close? That might be your solution. Like a true greenhouse roof.
The wheat used in France is different than in the US. US wheat has been engineered to have more of something that makes it hard to digest. So Americans and Canadians may not have the same good result from your recipe.
Wall looking good Chris… enjoy your well earned G&T .. chin, chin. See you tomorrow. 🏴
Greetings from Canada 🇨🇦 Chris love your videos, great variety.
The wall is going to look so nice. Missed the girls today. Best
I know the light above the door is brand new and I love it. The style is spot on. I would just be so tempted to paint it green on the outside.
The Pierre Apparente is looking FABULOUS ! I love where you’ve put the bistro set. You did an amazing job on it.
Terracotta roof tiles 👌
Cheers buddy, great job 🍓🍹
That G&T looked really refreshing. Especially while sitting at your restored bistro set. Are you a mixology enthusiast?
I would steer clear of a clear roof. The cafe table and chairs look fantastic ❤😊
😊
Lunch is life! Do the back half (next to the house) in a solid roof and then only do the front front half in semi opaque plastic. Hens, hens, hens! The table and chairs look amazing! 😻
Thank you for giving me the push to start freshening up my outdoor patio furniture. Now if the Texas weather will just cooperate a bit more to my liking I will be done before I know it!
Cheers!
Hi Chris , here in Australia we can get a sun proof version of that roofing that reflects a lot of the heat away but still let’s light in . Not sure if it’s available elsewhere in the world but might be worth a look 😊
I think your right about not putting in clear glass for the roof. It will definitely make it much hotter. The bistro table and chairs look so nice in that corner. Do people in France use screens for their windows? We use them in the States and they work wonders while keeping out bugs and letting air circulate through a room.
The wall looks beautiful….love the colors. Can this type of wall stand up to the elements if it was completely exposed?
If it’s possible to get a bronze plexiglass color roof, it would look great.
I love that you call it a strimmer. In 🇨🇦 we call it a weed wacker.
Love watching you Chris you make me laugh sometimes also like when you cook love from Perth australia
I would suggest you put roofing on that deflects the heat. Clear roofing blinds you when the sun comes down on it as well as increasing the heat. One of our neighbours put a glass roof in, which was supposed to deflect the heat, well that didn't happen, they now have to put a sprinkler on the top of it, plus some bamboo mats! Yikes. I love it when you said the chickens "will be featured tomorrow". Thank you for the cooking segments as well, I love what you do!
A roof with a reflective coating underneath. You need the roof, then a two or three inch gap and follow with the shiny roof film underneath on the inside. Lots of YouTube videos explaining this.
If we had good flour, the bread would be good, but here in the US, that is not easy to find. 😢
Your cooking looks splendid at least you eat healthy greetings from central Queensland Australia have a wonderful day
👋👍❤️
Great stuff mate, steak for lunch in a house you own sipping a G&T on your own time! I will support your freedom from wage slavery! BRAVO!
Oh and rose tinted plexy might be good!
