I just start with hot water from the sink to cut down on the time I have to wait for it to boil. Probably doesn't make much difference, but I'm impatient
Wabanaki in us northeast dropped stones, heated in the fire, into wooden bowls to heat liquids for teas and soups long before Julia Child 👹🫀🔪’s French friend. The Wabanaki did not have pottery or metal, so all their bowls were made of wood or hollowed out stone. I suspect that all peoples before the metal age in prehistory used this method to heat liquids.

Omfg I'm almost 40 years old and I finally know why all those pasta boxes say to boil way more water than is necessary. I never thought about the time for it to get back up to boiling. It makes sense because there's more energy stored in a larger quantity of water. Why has nobody explained this to me before? Is it just so obvious that it's never stated?

In the 1600-1700s they used something similar called a toddy iron. The stainless steel is a thoughtful upgrade on ancient technology. 😊
