In this video, I compare cheap vs expensive fish and chips in London to see how much difference the price really makes. I start with the cheapest fish and chips I could find, heading to Johnny’s Fish Bar in Bermondsey, where they offer fish and chips for just £6 during their weekday lunch deal. At the end, I even leave £60 to cover meals for the first people who turn up and say I sent them.
Next, I visit Rock & Sole Plaice in Covent Garden, one of my personal favourites and also the oldest fish and chip shop in London, to see how a classic spot compares.
Finally, I try the most expensive fish and chips, heading to Corenucopia by Clare Smyth in Chelsea, the luxury bistro from the three-Michelin-star chef where their fish and chips comes in at £54. Does the cheapest hold up, or does the luxury version win? Let’s find out.

Restaurants visited:
Johnny’s Fish Bar – 142 Tanner St, London SE1 2HG
Rock & Sole Plaice – 47 Endell St, WC2H 9AJ
Corenucopia by Clare Smyth – 18-22 Holbein Pl, SW1W 8NL

  11. Our local "real Aussie" Fish and Chips in a Perth suburb is called Nefis which is Turkish for "delicious". The owner is Turkish but the fish and chips are good and relatively cheap. He has burgers and Açai too.
