This video is on one of the only three filter brewers I use: the Cafec Deep 27. I use this brewer for exclusively small doses and present my go-to recipe here. Hope you enjoy!

  1. How does it compare to the funnex? I was thinking about picking up a deep 27 for a while but I really don't want plastic 🙁

  2. Tried to use an Aeropress by pushing a Kalita Wave 185 filter into the Aeropress and use 8g of coffee. Coffee seems to get pretty good.

  3. I always wondered what a Chemex extreme would be like. My own personal experimentation has similar conclusions about the limitaions of v60. Cleverdripper & Hario switch is a great solution but i like how there's a better way without immersion. Thanks!

  4. I am super happy with my Orea O1 (It's a flat bottom brewer). I am using it the last 110 days and i always brew 10gr of coffee. This thing is amazing

  5. I've loved my D27 since I discovered it, a year ago. Fits my life perfectly.
Oh, I like a little stir on the 3rd pour.

  6. for these people who have a nextlevel pulsar, the best way to micro dose is runs emersion in a 6 or 8 gram dose, water first than grounds that always work, just adjust the emersion time by roast level, I pair it with my zp 6, I can do 10min emersion when I brewing something light like oma

  7. I don’t have a Deep 27 but I do turn to a different brewer for tiny doses (7-10 grams or so), the Kono MDK-21. It’s not sold specifically for super small doses, but I find it constricts flow to the point that it works way better for baby doses than it does for a typical ~15g.

I believe this is the most constricted, lowest bypass of all the Kono variants. Super small drain opening, super short ridges.

  8. What is the cheapest way to try pour over? I'm into espresso and Moka pot, not sure I'll like the taste and body and don't want to blindly spend 47 euro for a hario switch…

  9. Ive done 8 grams on my hario switch a few times. (Standard bloom, pour to full volume, steep, stir, drain.) I got way more clarity than i do with 15+ grams on that brewer. I think it hits on what you were saying here with contact time, with steep and release you dont need to rely on bed depth for that. Then with the small dose the filter gets much less clogged and the draw down is a lot smoother.

  10. TAIZO GOOOLLLDDDD

Also just to note, that quick mention of putting the brewer under the sink faucet is actually kind of important because the D27 filters are kind of tricky to get seated properly. The high flow of the sink faucet is enough to reliably get the filters seated properly in the brewer so you don't end up with just pure bypass.

  11. I've been waiting for Lance or Hoffman to make a video about the Deep 27!
I bought this brewer when it came out in Japan and have enjoyed experimenting with it. I never tried such a small dose as lance here, but i find it to be pretty flexible and forgiving in general, esp. compared to a v60. I've instead been seeing just how fine I can take the grind and find that I can go finer than a V60 before hitting that wall of bitterness. And at the same time I can grind coarser than a V60 before the coffee starts to taste hollow.
Can't wait to experiment with this recipe too! Thanks for the vid!

  12. Theres a new recipe thats kinda crazy froom @slowkoi_kohi. Its 5g, 1:20 ratio, 3 pours. 1 bloom 1 normal pour and for the 3rd, you pour the brewed coffee back into the filter. I've been having some good and interesting brews with it. More tea-like and sweet, a bit less acidity, but you get to extend your small doses even more.

  13. I use my Tarachine conical 30 for microbrews! Sometimes even more delicious and juicy than the conical brewer I use every morning lol

  14. Im often doing a ten or twelve grams on a hario switch full immersion but I also love the Cafec
