The Fabien Jouves Vin de France Autochtones 2024 is Senior Editor Jacobo García Andrade’s new Wine Crush. From winemaker Fabien Jouves of Mas del Périé in Cahors, this wine is a fascinating project to recuperate the region’s obscure and nearly extinct grape varieties. It’s a blend of grapes like jurançon noir, valdiguié and prunelard noir, all grown in his vineyards in southwestern France.

Aged for about 12 months in used barrels, the result is a wonderfully fluid and drinkable wine. With an alcohol level of only around 9.5 percent, it’s a refreshing expression of its ancestral terroir.
