La joie de vivre!

Description of Us:
We are a couple of American Francophiles who have come to truly appreciate so many things about French culture. We love the food, wine, art, and history of France, but especially the people we have met along the way. Join us as we make our dream of living in France a reality. Follow us as we explore the French living and a new life there with our beloved dog, Bernice. We enjoy learning about stone house renovation, wine, cooking, brocante shopping, and the French community we are now a part of.

  1. I love following your vlog posts! I’m in south Florida and we are having our own real chilly cold front with lows in the mid to upper 30’s overnight, but a beautiful warm up is on the way for the weekend. I can just imagine how cold it is in your location.
Perhaps I’m too old to undertake a move to France but my heart sings when I see your videos. If my health were better and more importantly, my mobility, I’d jump at the chance to relocate. It makes me so happy to see how you’ve created a life for yourselves there, and I’d like to wish you both a very happy, healthy and peace filled 2026.

Oh, I missed Michael’s descriptions of all the brocante finds…funny this, interesting that…😊

  2. Love these videos – real life in France… especially brocante visits… so glad you did not edit out music playing in background…

  3. The short vlogs are wonderful. Love at the end one of you says "see you tomorrow"! Happy New year also.

  4. Hello April and Michael. Happy new year. Thank you for today’s post. So enjoyable seeing April’s gratitude for all of her experiences no matter how routine or grand. April finds something to appreciate and praise whether riding in the car looking at the scenery, brocante shopping or enjoying prepared meals at the kitchen table. Her gratitude is inspiring.
Thank you…Joseph shivering in Cape May.

  5. Thanks for posting, but cold? Here in Callander Bay it’s -25°C this morning 😂😂😂🇨🇦

  6. Happy new year from Ontario Canada! We love watching your adventures after digging ourselves out from all of the snow here. Are you able to offer a different price than what’s on the tag on the high ticket items at the Brocantes and negotiate them a little?

  7. You probably know already, vide poche is French for the dish used to put your keys or empty your pockets. I thought that would make you smile, you are both such fun.

  8. The history of Bersac dates back to the Gallo-Roman period. Prehistoric tools have also been found in the surrounding area. A Roman or pre-Roman road passed nearby. The surrounding gold mines have been exploited since the time of the Gauls. The parish of Bersac was given to the monastery of Aureil in 1110 by Eustorge, Bishop of Limoges. From then on, it was a priory-parish. The current church dates from the 13th, 15th, and 16th centuries.
