Despite their high-fat diet, France has maintained one of the lowest heart disease rates in the world. It’s known as the French Paradox, where despite having one of the richest diets, their adult obesity rate is at 10% – significantly lower than Australia’s 30%.

For most of the world, this seems like the dream diet. Locals say it’s all about how they perceive food – for the French, they simply eat for pleasure.

  1. Butter is actual, healthy food. Most of the shelves in stores in N.A. are stocked with junk made from corn sugar.

  2. They don't have all the additives and chemicals added to their foods like there is here. They also cook from scratch. Instead of buying all the quick microwave meals, prepackaged, extremely sugary drinks and foods, etc.

  3. We have an enormous amount of food advertising in every type of media. Most of food is junk food. Not to mention we have the Food Network, which is just food porn.

  4. This is ridiculous BS misinformation. I married a French man and about half of his family is obese, they’re certainly not all thin as this woman would make you believe. Whoever is thin in France is thin because they’re physically active and they eat less calories. Period. There’s no special secret.

  5. I had a friend once tell me, cheese wasn’t good for me. It’s been 12? years since we talked. No one needs that kinda negativity in their life 🧹🧹

  6. American living in France since 2017. My weight did not increase once I moved here and I did drop a few kilos. I walk everywhere, eat in moderation and have a positive view on the food I am eating. I don’t feel guilty when I have dessert while out at dinner. I don’t do it every day. Moderation is key!

  7. Food that is prepared naturally, not over processed & portion size is off-course ( no mega portions ) important!
Eating for pleasure & 5 sences.

  8. They should have edited out that shot of the outdoor cafe table where the people all look pretty round. Maybe they’re tourists and just happen to all be wearing bulky coats??? 😂

  9. Actually I live in France and can categorically state the French women are getting fat although not as fast as in many countries🥰

  10. The quality of dairy products, fruits and vegetables and food in general in France and Europe is on another level compared to the USA where the American Frankenstein food is full of nasty chemicals, engine lubricants (seed oils) and copious amounts of trans fats and high fructose corn syrup.

  11. You don’t find as many obese people in France as you do in the US. Our over processed food is making us sick. We eat more fast food than they do in France also.

  12. The United States food are all manipulated, very unhealthy. GMO, Supermarket foods have been poisoned for the consumer. The same foods the United States eats is completely banned in Europe. Three generations ago foods in the United States was safe to eat. Obesity, disease from foods was non existent United citizens were slim, rare you see pot belly individuals.

  13. Well let's hope none of them have type two diabetes. It definitely is bad for me … I was given the diagnosis two weeks ago .I don't get fat but I still can't eat what I want anymore

  14. I honestly think it's something about living in America. Honestly. I lived in Germany, and the dr. was telling me that I needed to gain 10 lbs to be healthy. I lived in Japan and the highlight of my day was to stop by the minimart for my daily between lunch and dinner snack. No worries. I lived in Korea and while I was "fat" compared to Koreans, I could totally fill myself up at every meal and stay relatively thin. Then I moved back to the states and gained a gazillion pounds.

  15. Its all the chemicals that is sprayed on our crops and the nutrient deficiency in our foods. On top of all the garbage people eat

  16. We were discussing portion size today. We are N.Z.ers we serve half veg a quarter carb and a quarter protein. The whole meal only weighs 200g.

  17. I think I’m French. This is EXACTLY how I eat. I’m slim too but I eat what I want. I’m not a big eater though. So my portions are small compared to the average persons. I get full easily. I also only eat when I’m hungry which usually isn’t until later in the afternoon. My family are all quite big but I’ve managed to keep my weight normal for decades. I was a bit chubby as a kid but then my appetite decreased and I’ve ate like I do now since then. I got chubby after having 2 babies but I lost the weight quite quickly. I’m 57 now so I don’t really need to worry about my figure too much but I still do. I can’t stand low-fat/sugar foods/drinks and I have a saying: “everything’s better with butter” (most savoury foods are) . Yolo, so enjoy yourself, just don’t over indulge yourself too often.

  18. I have lived in France and lost few kilos. I checked my smart watch and realized i have walked 8 kilometers in average. So you eat and burn the calories.

  19. They dont get fat because they dont eat GMO US crap food. They dont eat McDonnals, KFC shit. They dont drink the trash Coca Cola products. They eat small portions. They drink lots of table wines. The food in Australia almost the same like in USA , trash. The key also the combination what you eat with what!!! The french smile will disappear soon. Paris looks like Zimbabwe😂😂
