Here we are in September. Last year, it was chilly and we were wearing jackets a lot of the time, here in Nice. This year, it hasn’t quite gotten to those temperatures, however, we’re still searching for some visual signs that autumn has arrived in the south of France, in particular, here in Nice.

Hi! We are An and Jeff Scott, two happily retired septuagenarians from the USA, who had a dream. That dream was to retire in France. So, we sold most of our “stuff”, packed and shipped the rest, and with our bossy little Yorkie, Bella, said “goodbye” to the USA. In 2024, we moved from the sunny coast of southwest Florida to the sunny coast of the south of France, to enjoy our “golden years” and embrace the “joie de vivre” available to us, here in beautiful Nice, France.
Moving from the USA to a foreign country was no small “project”. Through our videos, we’ve been taking you through the Long Stay Visa process, the packing, the purging, the moving, searching for an apartment, creating a great Dossier, learning the way things are done administratively in France, and sharing the steps, talking about what we’ve learned and the ups and the downs.
And now, we continue to share our life, our new life, here in Nice, getting settled, adjusting to the “French” way of doing things, dealing with the French “red tape”, reveling in the beauty of the world around us…and all the while, making every wonderful day in Nice, the best day ever…

Hi An & Jeff, delightful video, as always. I can tell you that one sign of autumn in France will come leading up to All Saints Day, which is 11/1.
You will see pots of chrysanthemums in the markets, but, unlike in the US, they aren’t used to decorate outdoor spaces in the fall, they are taken to cemeteries by family members to honor those who have passed on.
I learned this the hard way when I almost bought a huge pot for my SIL’s garden & a friend warned me she might take it the wrong way. 😅
My geraniums are still green and blooming in Nashville. I put a plastic portable greenhouse on my balcony for overwintering them and some other plants that would not survive frost. Love your balcony.

Bonjour An! I have a question is your apartment North facing? How much sun do you get for your Terrace olive trees and other plants need constant Sun good chance that's why they're not doing well and as far as finding any fall colors I found that when I went to Eze the ivy on the buildings were beautifully colored with burgundy and orange🍁🍃🍂

It’s definitely autumn here in the Uk. We were in nice three years ago in October and it was 30 degrees in the daytime and still warm at night. That gets my vote! 👍👍

May I ask how do you get away with filming people on the streets; I watched another you tube channel that say that's against the law and that you are not even allowed to have ring doorbells pointing towards the street if this is true arent you afraid of getting in trouble?

Signs of autumn in Nice? Here’s one. I was in Centrakor (a home decor store) last Thursday (Sep 25) and they had a huge display of Xmas decorations.
