    Last year, I was at the lavoir in Alet-les-Bains, and a couple of ladies were washing quilts and bedcovers in there, so some of them are even used today! (Even though I'm sure they wash their regular wash in their washing machines at home)

I have been blessed to be able to travel and do things I enjoy but it has always been at the expense of other things I couldn't do. But that was fine because I chose to do the things I loved.     Some of the French hilltop villages are just stunning. One if the things I love is they change dramatically with the seasons. The colours, the view, the smells ….Enjoy exploring.

    Jane, may I commend to you ( and anyone else) the astonishing Cathar castles close to you. Particularly Queribus and Peyrepetuse. Astonishing places high on rocky ridges, like something out of Lord of the Rings. Fabulous views! Do add them to your list ( if they're not on already).

    Ive lived this way in northern California for decades.
    The weather here is fantastic. The hiking, biking, fishing and boating are literally a walk from my front door.
    Thrift stores, Craigslist and market place have great bargains here as well. Farmers market produce is outstanding, but pricey.

    I also buy clothes at thrift stores, and oftentimes get more compliments on those clothes more than the new ones. I love finding gently used items for my home. I wish I could live in France since I have family there, but I have serious health issues, and must stay close to home. Enjoy your wonderful life❤. Jane, your hair is absolutely gorgeous 😊. I let mine grow long too, and it's so much easier to style. I'm much older than you, and totally envy your life.

    Hi Jane. I'm sure you know this but this video showed several of the places along the Cathar Trail. I have very many happy memories of riding the trail on horseback and stopping in little villages to allow the horses to have a drink from the old troughs and riding up to the old churches to admire the interiors and appreciate the views. You have moved to a beautiful part of France,
