We’re Alex, Mehmet, and our dog Bindi from TurksWhoEat! In this video, we’re taking you to Strasbourg, France, home to one of Europe’s oldest and largest Christmas markets. Known as the “Capital of Christmas,” Strasbourg dazzles with its historic charm, festive lights, and cozy atmosphere.
We explore the food, drinks, and must-visit spots across the many markets, including the famous Quai des Délices gourmet market. From tarte flambée and bredle cookies to the iconic vin chaud (mulled wine) and local Christmas beer, we taste it all—sharing what’s worth trying and what you might want to skip. Plus, we discover the delicious manele brioche, enjoy freshly baked pretzels, and try the regional favorite, kugelhopf.
Not all the food hit the mark, but we found redemption with a cozy meal at Chez L’Oncle Freddy, featuring Alsatian classics like cheesy spaetzle, sauerkraut, and braised beef.

Info for visiting the Strasbourg Christmas Markets: https://noel.strasbourg.eu/en/
We were visiting this market around Thanksgiving, and 100% agree with your take. We noticed walking around before the markets opened, that around 95% of the stalls, had pre-made items, hours before the market opened. Almost nothing was being made fresh. We found a few good stalls, namely far away from the town center (the noel village?) where they had some local producers giving yummy soups and snacks.
Given the popularity of this area, this time of year, anyone planning on going, please make sure to have reservations in advance, even for lunch, as many of the desirable locations have limited space and book up quickly.
We really enjoyed Strasbourg, and found the restaurants to be absolutely amazing, some of the best in our France holiday trip!
Thank you as always for your great videos, we love seeing the updates, and enjoying your takes on food!
