We are building a hazel rose arbor on our French homestead to replace the the one that was destroyed in a winter storm. The hazel is cut from bushes around the garden. The roses in the garden include the fabulous rambling rector.

Also, in this episode we make some ceiling mounts for lighting, visit the garden centre for plants for the spring garden, including asparagus and strawberries. We visit the town of Bergerac and take part in some wine tasting.

Finally, we are visited by a flight of migrating cranes making their way north for the summer.

Okay so a couple of weeks ago made that little round circle to fix to the lounge ceiling so we could properly connect the Light Pendant well Lind decided she wants another one for a much bigger light that we just brought back from the UK that’s the template that she’s made

And I just needed to glue three boards together to make something that big it’s been sat overnight going off now so I can cut that Circle give it a sand cut an hole in the center for the cables to come through and then I can give it to

Lynn cuz she likes to lure these things and then we can put that light up there is however a rumor that she wants to move the light that we put up in the lounge to the bathroom and put the light that we brought in the lounge Works never done Window It’s one of those days that oh drizzles all the time so a few weeks ago the metal Archway that was stood here blew down in a storm so today weather permitted I’m going to go down into the woods and find some Azel we put this up temperary just to support this

Rose tree but I’m trying to make a rose aror out of some hael so I need to go down into the woods with my saw and find some nice pieces of AEL it’s going to be one of those days where we get a lot of Cups of

Tea so ideally I’m looking for something that’s about 8T tall and about an inch in diameter and straight so there’s a piece there there’s lots of pieces in here that are too thin new growth and there’s lots of pieces that are bent but I’ve got plenty of trees to choose from

I’ve got this one there’s one there there’s one over there there’s a few over there and it’s absolutely loads around the corner let’s see what I can get from this one initially I think I can see two that might be some good Hello Gracie see what’s going On The good thing about these hazel is they all bounce back quite quickly this is one I cut down maybe 20 22 summer and already it’s quite a substantial plant again so it’s nice to cut them back every few years down to the ground let them grow back and then you get quite a

Nice Bush rather than lots that we’ve got over there which is just dead basically by the way do you let me your Microphone yeah That get in a trunk in like that one there we can put that to L decide what the L got string there string there there oh break it he’s breaking it grayon So yesterday we had to go and see the water ball Bo in the local biggest town bersak whilst we were there we was going to go out for lunch so we had a we had a little bit of time to kill so we had to walk around bersak we found the wine

Museum which actually unfortunately was closed but since I’ve last been the built an extension which is now the tourist office and upstairs they’ve got a bar now the bar wasn’t open but they do wine tasting of local wines so this were about half past 11 yesterday morning ended up having five small

Glasses of wine so then we had another walk around town and found a really nice restaurant and had the plaque dour which included another couple of glasses of wine so by the end of the day I uh I had to be shower home by ly had had that

Much wine I didn’t get much done in the afternoon though as you can probably guess but uh we took some film footage so here’s a little insight into our day bur rack yesterday lovely little town in the out of the dooro very popular with holiday makers with its own airport with UK flights

He could you work for tourist Office we yeah we we uh Well Mery what did you get some Scribbl Joy You’ve got big feet Yeah you know it’s Co Low it down so that side’s finished I need to do the same what we’ve just done there on that side two cross pieces then a little bit of triangulation just to because it’s still a bit the other thing I’m not happy about is this in Ideal World just

Do with rotating triangulation there is that okay of that had his ey that grey nice when it’s highly sprung right this side he put some triangulation on like this and then on the next one like that and so well you’ll wack your head but it’ll be one of them like them Japanese

Gardens where it like naturally slows you down as you like wave your way through it come to do a bit of watering later just stand here I just want to see what sort of space I’ve got so we don’t have that oh yes I put them on like that we’re not

Going to whack his heads on there yeah that okay so I’m quite happy how this looks it’s quite big it’s actually a bit taller than I expected actually we got four uprights each side four cross pieces bit of diagonal bracing really like the way the diagonal bracings come

Out okay so it’s a little bit rustic but we’ve just made it from easel that we’ve cut around the garden every piece is individual it’s not as though we’ve been and bought some regulated Timber so and I think once once all these roses grow which won’t be too long they’re already

In Bud we uh I think it’ll be quite nice in here be quite nice and Shady so we might even pull the bench in here in the ey of Summer the Sun’s made appearance in the last hour we’ve had showers and wind and all sorts today but it’s absolutely fantastic now it’s really

Still and sunny round the all this a I’m going to round up all this a leer put it in a pile and we’ll shred it at some point it’s shads really well does hael and goes on the gardener mulch that
