I have used a coffee maker for years, but nothing brings out the flavor of your coffee like a French press. It is magical, now my coffee maker coffee tastes like burnt electrical wire.
(Good thing I am an electrician and also eat that for breakfast) Anyway the only thing I see is that by time you heat up the water in your kettle (4 minutes), and pour in the boiling water with the coffee and let it steep for another 4 minutes it is like watching paint dry.
(That is why I am not a painter) Bottom line: Good things come to those who wait, so if you have the time….enjoy.
Love this! Super cute and makes two large mugs of coffee for me. Easy to clean. Easy to fill. For those who said that it breaks easily or that it rusts, they are not taking care of it properly.
I consider myself a true coffee connoisseur. Ive tried every possible kind of coffee pot. This is by far the best. I buy really good organic, free trade coffee, so I know Im getting the best stuff.
Make sure you dont grind your beans to fine with a French press.
It makes decent coffee but clean up is more of a hassle than I expected. Had I thought this through, I probably would have gotten a percolator instead. This puts me to mind of steeping my coffee grounds.
This press uses the same, reputable all-stainless plunger and mesh filter mechanism as Bodums Chambord line. The mesh filter included with my order showed no signs of damage and produces a tight seal within the glass beaker.
The mesh is fine enough to keep nearly all grinds out of the final cup, and sediment has been minimal within the final cup when using an appropriately coarse grind.
This press is absolutely gorgeous in person. I have not noticed any sharp edges, and the chrome finish is consistent and without issue. And water spots, should they appear after air drying, are easy to wipe away.
I have found this press to be more durable than the Chambord line.
The extra material serves to hold the beaker more snugly, thus better preventing the beaker from slipping out of the holder when pouring, and also helps to prevent bumps, even light ones, from damaging the glass within.
As for plastics, the spout is part of the glass beaker, so no plastics there, but the lids base is made of plastic(s).
I am not sure what plastics were used in its construction, but while the water does pass through openings in the lid while pouring, minimal contact is made and I have not noticed the taste affected.
Still, for those with a particular adversity, the glass beakers spout allows for pouring without the top fully engaged if one is careful.
Cleaning is akin to other presses, and full disassembly of all major pieces, including the filter, is possible and recommended for cleaning.
