— Le Comptoir de Mathilde: A famous French sweet shop and delicatessen stall located within the market hall, known for its gourmet chocolates, baba au rhum jars, artisanal spreads, and regional Provence treats (priced generally between €5.00 and €25.00 for gift sets and specialties).
— Local Food Stalls: Features artisan Corsican deli items at A Casa Corsa (platters €20.00–€28.00), fresh Moroccan couscous and tagines at Baraka, and gourmet seafood or chicken Caesar bowls (€16.50).
— Walking Route & Key Landmarks
— Place Vincent Raspail: Starting point at Les Halles Municipales in the Quartier des Halles, surrounded by warm ochre facades and vibrant outdoor cafe terraces.
— Place des Trois Dauphins: A charming square featuring the bust monument dedicated to the legendary Toulon-born actor Jules Raimu (1883–1946), a prominent member of the Comédie-Française and star of classic French cinema.
— Rue Paul Lendrin: A picturesque tree-shaded pedestrian street lined with boutique shops (such as Cotélac Stock), medical cabinets, and outdoor dining tables under plane trees.
— Place Pierre Puget & Rue Berthelot: Historic town crossroads home to local shops, the iconic Hôtel Little Palace, and cozy tea houses.
— Place Vatel: A historic square framed by palm trees and classic Mediterranean architecture, centered around one of Toulon’s most famous artistic installations.
— The Story of “La Proue de Navire” (Le Bateau-Sculpture) Standing proudly in Place Vatel, “La Proue de Navire” (also known as Le Bateau-Sculpture) is a breathtaking 16-meter-high installation integrated directly into the facade of a residential building. Erected by the municipality in 1995, it serves as a full-scale replica of the bow of “La Flore”, an 18th-century 18-gun frigate that was historically stationed at the Toulon naval base.
The figurehead at the front features Neptune, the Roman god of the seas, modeled after the original sculpture preserved in the National Navy Museum of Toulon. In 2021, the entire structure was completely reimagined and repainted in vibrant, modern colors by renowned French artist Alexandre Benjamin Navet, transforming historical naval heritage into a bold piece of contemporary public art.
