French journalist, Mme. Anne-Elisabeth Moutet joins Talk’s Alex Phillips.
French farmers have been praised for driving towards raging wildfires near Bordeaux to help overstretched emergency crews.
Using tractors and water tankers normally reserved for their fields, they joined efforts to protect homes and communities as thousands reportedly fled the flames.
Alex said: “In the hour of need, they are there. I think that is utterly wonderful.”

It is terrible for those people whose houses have burned to the ground.
Burning stubble and avenue controlled forestry can help but that isn't always economic/eco friendly when government help is needed. It needs to be maintained if only to prevent the scale we are witnessing, especially now as we see people are setting fires on purpose as well as accidently.

the fires in France are the result of arson; some arsonists have been arrested…their scale stems from a lack of forest maintenance—blame the environmentalists for that—and a lack of resources for our firefighters, since our "dear" government failed to renew the Canadair fleet. And because it was so hot and dry, the fire spread incredibly fast… meanwhile, billions of our tax dollars are going to Ukraine… Six months ago, firefighters protested to highlight their lack of resources and warn of the dire consequences, but Macron sent the police and armored vehicles against them… There is so much more to say… for instance: who stands to gain? It’s "surely" just a coincidence, but in the Gironde region (where the Bordeaux fire is), there was a major project to clear-cut the forest and install solar panels… the locals said no, of course… it’s absurd… Anyway, global warming makes for a convenient excuse… especially when you consider that rising temperatures are caused by a lack of trees—since trees are the best natural air conditioners—yet we’re destroying forests to install solar panels in the name of ecology… Give me a break! There’s nothing ecological about it; it’s all about big money… In the meantime, 200,000 people have lost everything and are out on the street, and 40,000 hectares have burned—along with the wildlife… That’s Macron’s France .. An angry French citizen 👋

Why don't you tell the truth ? French citizens get together because the macron government has failed them. A member of the government (attal) recently cancelled an order for 5 more canadairs. What a remarkably clever decision. The fleet of french canadairs is so old half of the planes are useless, in maintenance most of the time. Macron gives billions to zelensky but does not buy crucial canadairs to protect France. Which side is the macron government on ? Obviously not France.

Fireen and farmers are fighting so hard because our government has failed us! Less canadairs, less money for the firemen… whereas billions are spent no one knows .. shame on president Macron!

. 99% of fires are caused by human activity, and 90% of those are believed to be deliberate.
. Our government chose to invest in very expensive gendarmerie vehicles to deal with demonstrators rather than in aerial firefighting equipment. They cancelled orders for new Canadair aircraft and outsourced the maintenance of the Canadair fleet…
. Several people pointed out the so-called "role" of the ecologists, without saying that what we are witnessing has been announced 30 years ago by ecologists, i.e. glogal change, increased temperatures, aggravated climatic events, including droughts and fires. But nobody listened…
You must know as well that in this part of Gironde, the typology of the earth does not help. It is a kind of "tourbe" in which one the fire can progress and progress. So there is the propagation in the airs, of course, but as well in the ground…..
