Sorry for the little mess (window, bed and desk especially), I've been sorting through my stuff and haven't tidied up yet.

Rugs can very much go, I don't like them anyway

Definitely get rid of the rugs. The tiny rugs are the problem – they’re causing visual clutter in the first photo, and doing nothing but being a trip hazard in the second.

A big rug might actually solve your problem, and it shouldn’t make the room more visually noisy unless it has a lot of bright colours and/or a big, bold pattern. Usually having a large rug (ie big enough that at least the front legs of all of your seating are on it, and your coffee table is fully on it) helps ground the space and tie all of your furniture together, which makes your brain feel more grounded and comfortable – the opposite of noisy.

Edit: The exception to no tiny rugs in this case could be if you get a big rug for under your seating area, and leave the tiny rug in front of the cabinet (record player?) the way it is in the second photo (ie the rug closest to the camera). This will separate that cabinet into a zone that’s distinct from the seating area, and it may help balance the room if it feels a little weird with only one big rug in the seating area and nothing over there.
