One of the first wines I tasted on my Bordeaux trip tasting the 2025 en-primeur wines was Chateau Bellevue. The estate may have made one of its best ever wines in 2025 and it is certainly a vibrant example of the beautiful perfumed expression of Merlot that can be grown in Saint Emilion on vineyards with limestone soils – incidentally I am recording this in the chateau, I assume the stone of the walls here is locally quarried limestone!
