This is one of those recipes everyone grows up with in France – usually the first cake kids learn to bake!

It’s all based on ratios, using the yogurt pot to measure which makes it one of the easiest cakes to throw together
simple, reliable, and always so good

Ingredients:

1 (4.5-5oz (125-140g)) pot of yogurt
4 large eggs, room temp
2 pots of granulated sugar
1 ½ tsp vanilla extract
3 pots of all purpose flour
2 ½ tsp baking powder
Pinch of salt
½ pot melted butter
Baking spray or softened butter for greasing the pans

Instructions:

– Preheat your oven to 350F (175C).
– In a large bowl, add the yogurt. Wash our the yogurt pot and dry it. We’ll use this to measure all the other ingredients!
– Whisk in the 4 large eggs followed by 2 pots of granulated sugar and a dash of vanilla.
– Add 3 pots of flour, the baking powder and pinch of salt.
– Add about 2-3 tablespoons of butter to the pot and melt in the microwave. Let cool and whisk this into the batter.
– Choose what you’ll bake the cakes in and either grease them with baking spray or with softened butter and a dusting of flour.
– Pour the batter in about ½ to ¾ of the way full, place on a baking sheet and bake until browning around the edges and bouncing back to the touch.
