Do you tip in France? Welcome to our new new series debunking French myths, starting with one we get asked all the time.

Tipping in Paris isn’t required, but you might see “pourboire” (literally “for drinking”) a small extra left for your server, traditionally used toward their end-of-shift drink. That said, things are shifting, and tipping is becoming a bit more common, especially in tourist-heavy areas.

Since much of the Paris in My Pocket team has worked as bike tour guides in Paris, we know firsthand that tips can make a real difference.

And speaking of tours- if you’re looking for recommendations, we’ve put together a full blog post with our top picks in Paris https://loom.ly/RZ66Alw

Curious about your thoughts on this and what other French myths we need to debunk
