Gujaratis have a superpower: turning besan into things the rest of India could not see coming.

– Let’s make Fansi ma Dapka.
– Heat oil, add hing and a pinch of soda.
– Toss in chopped French beans, salt, sugar, and a splash of water.
– When they’re tender, season with coriander and cumin powder.
– Now for the dumplings — mix besan, fresh coriander, ginger-chilli paste, hing, sugar and salt. Then some oil and water.
– Fold in some Eno and beat till its fluffy.
– Drop spoonfuls over the steaming beans, cover and cook for five minutes.
– And there you have it — Beans, now crowned with golden dumplings.

It completed our Gujarati thali, but you can have it with rice, rotis or straight from the pot!

Can any other cuisine compete with Gujarat’s besan superpowers?

  3. What's so innovative in this and creative that gujaratis eat? Eating besan in various forms… cooking is an art and skill which gujratis lack

  4. From which angle they are dumplings? Learn properly about things before using fancy names.

  5. it's not a dumpling, dumpling has a filling and an outer shell made out with some kind of starch or flour
