In this video, I compare a US vs UK grocery store weekly shop to see which country really comes out on top. I start by doing a full weekly shop at Tesco in the UK, breaking down the total cost, then head to Ralphs in the USA, the closest American equivalent, to do the same shop and compare prices.
After that, I take a deeper dive into individual products, comparing ingredients, calories, sugar content, salt levels, and even colour to see how the same or similar items differ between the UK and the US. For each product, I decide whether the UK or USA wins.
Is food really healthier in the UK? Is the US cheaper? And which country does everyday groceries better overall? Let’s find out.

Should have been nice for you to do the actual comparison and the maths on each
When I discovered you months ago, I googled you, obviously. One of the first things I read is that you can tap. So lots of people know…..not nobody knows.
I feel like you got more food in the US so of course it was more. Like you said though too California is the most expensive state too though.

Scripted draw?
Im a Brit that's moved to Canada! Its absolutely true. In England, could have a fizzy drink in the UK, in the fridge for over 4 days. In Canada, i open it… next day its flat. I get one at work in the morning. By the end of the day if I have some left…. flat. Sprite is the only one that at least lasts 2 days. But still. A 2 litre… open, needs to be consumed in the day.
I’m in UK
Okay just to ensure people don't freak out about E-numbers – fucking almost everything has an E-number doesn't mean it's something that's bad for you or something artificiel even, as an example E162 is colour from beetroot.
It's good to be aware of of course, but please don't be anxious about it just look it up (or get an app i guess)
Canadian here. I love that we have several stores that sell British foods.. some dedicated totally to British items. Yes you chocolate is best. I love Walkers Crisps as well. Ketchup in fridge. I think if you shopped in Canada you would be better able to compare with our items like yours. I think some commentators forget this is your personal preference to items and that your opinion is your opinion.
Find the best lasagne in London!
Americans think you're actually supposed to eat Oreos like they are food…
should have gone to wallmart or something tbh.
Ralph's does tend to be a little pricey. Also what city you are in can make a difference too.
Batchelors do an instant mac cheese pot here in the uk.
У нас President масло в России стоит 2€
Sorry, the kitchen is hideous
You kept saying the prices but the UK includes the tax but in the US it is only added at the till so it is difficult to compare while walking around without a calculator.
10:36 Hellman’s and Best Foods are the same,in different parts of the US it is under different names, I am not sure of the exact reasons, but I believe one bought out the other or they merged and wanted to keep the name that people in the different regions were familiar with
Best Foods west of the Mississippi. We also have half pints, pints and quarts of milk about 240, 480, 960 ML containers of milk. The choices are wild. If it's hard for you make decisions it will drive you crazy. I'm surprised he didn't mention the orange cheese.
Eggland's Best is goat, tho
Go to Germany and compare Harrison, you will be schocked!
If you love sugar that much, just move to the USA haha.
We have ready meals also for Mac mashed potatoes etc.
Refrigerate after opening is how I do with condiments
You can get Kraft or Marshalls mac & cheese in a box with powder cheese. 😊
I bought the UK crackers in USA (Jacob’s) … AWFUL !!!!
Why not just go to Walmart? It’s cheaper than Ralph’s or whatever that is?
The amount of choice in America is so overwhelming
