I visited Italy last year for my honeymoon and stayed at the agriturismo Poggio il Castellare. I had never heard of them but their property looked amazing. We had an absolutely incredible but brief 1 night stay. In February my wife and I took another trip back to Italy and made sure to stay at this lovely place for a longer.

During our stay I made plans to visit Le Potazzine, we had a great tour and wine tasting and I couldn’t help myself to purchasing the largest bottle I have ever owned. I have no idea where I am going to store this 3L bottle!

I unfortunately was not able to get a visit to Tiezzi but I was very interested in the producer. After walking around basically all of Montalcino I only found one small wine shop that had a few bottles left. In this small shop I was recommended the Le Chiuse which I happily took.

On my way out of Montalcino I stopped at an agriturismo on the side of the hill that was selling olive oil. In their shop I found their own wine Fattoi.

Lastly, on my previous trip to Italy I had an insane meal at Ristorante Ad Hoc in Rome. I had their Roman tasting menu with wine pairing. The first course included the lovely Pileum Massitium. After not being able to find it anywhere in the US and no where near where I was in Italy I had to purchase some at Ad Hoc.
