I have two bathrooms and they are identical. The person who flipped my house about 15 years ago did them the cheapest way possible. Floor to ceiling tile. I’m trying to come up with a modern color scheme that would work with the vanity and fixtures. I live in a major metropolis in in the southeast US.

  1. Everything I’ve read about painting tiles makes it seem like a bad idea because it doesn’t last and bubbles quickly… probably doubly so in a bathroom that gets humid

If your intent on doing it then black/ white would probably be the most universal colour scheme since your counter tops are black

Don’t. Paint hates the amount of moisture that you get inside the shower- it’s going to peel and look like trash and clog up the plumbing besides. Play around with the textiles and save up until you can do a job that you won’t regret.

Example: The pattern on this shower curtain is William Morris Strawberry Thief- keep it closed at all time to keep it “in charge” of the room, and pair it with a green rug (just one) and cream towels.

Agreeing with the others on avoiding shower tile paint. If you’re set on a DIY refresh, Rustoleum Tub & Tile refinishing kit performs better than regular paint in wet spaces, though it’s still not permanent. The textile approach (curtain, rug, towels) is genuinely the smarter play if budget is the constraint, since those are easy to swap when your taste shifts.
