@norma_fitzroy is an unfussy French Italian bistrot located on Smith St, Fitzroy.
Named after his Nonna, Norma is chef and owner Benjamin Tremblet’s tribute to the French and Italian dishes he grew up with. Drawing from Norma’s handwritten recipe books, the menu weaves together French classics and regional specialties from Provence and the Côte d’Azur. After training in Michelin kitchens in Paris and Lyon and growing up near Bordeaux, Ben brought that experience to Melbourne in 2019.
The space feels warm and intimate, intentionally designed to feel like you’re dining at nonna’s table. It’s cosy, relaxed and elegant. ✨
The menu is generous and designed to properly feed you – so share and order sparingly! Go a la carte or opt into the Chef’s Feed Me menu for $75pp. On Tuesdays is burger night, $35 for their special burger (only available on Tuesdays!) and a wine, or Saturdays come for their $45p lunch which includes an entree and main!
⭐️ Bread, French cultured butter – from Falco Bakery. Amazing, crusty on the outside and unbelievably fluffy inside. Elite start.➖ Grilled octopus, saffron potato✔️ Beef tartare, whipped provolone – tasty and the biggest serving of steak tartare I’ve ever had.⭐️ Tuna crudo, stracciatella – fresh, layered with so many textures and flavours. It’s been on the menu since the beginning for a reason.✔️ Deep fried gnocchi, nduja emulsion – extremely light, almost like tiny airy croquettes.✔️ Burger, special sauce, fries – great char on the patty, extra soft bun and absolutely swimming in sauce.⭐️ Beef bourguignon, beef cheek – perfection. Rich glossy sauce, soft silky mash and deeply hearty. Proper comfort food.✔️ Baby cos, pecorino✔️ Basque cheesecake, chocolate sauce – silky smooth.⭐️ Crème brûlée – couldn’t fault it. Super creamy with the perfect crack on top.
Very impressed. Every dish was beautifully presented, innovative and not short on flavour. This is one to come hungry for!
