I’m looking for lighting for the corner behind the couch. I don’t like having the ceiling light on and the corner is pretty dark in the evening and difficult to read over there.

I would like something that can be wall mounted (though the walls are pretty textured so not sure if that throws a wrench into things) and plugged in as hiring an electrician to hard wire isn’t in the budget right now.

I’m not keen on moving the couch to the right to make space for a floor lamp because it’ll make things on the right side a little tight.

I thought potentially about making space for an arc lamp, but I want to avoid a light that feels like an interrogation light over someone sitting on the couch.

I’m open to a sconce for sure – but would having just one on the left wall (with the bigger window) look unbalanced?

I am not the best decorator and know it’s a downfall of mine, so i come to people better at it than me!

It’s a great idea. Look for a brushed yellow (gold/brass) metal base with an off-white shade. An extendable ‘arm’ will let the reader adjust it. A square or rectangular shade will let it sit closer to the wall. I’d cover the cord with a ‘cord cover’ that matches the metal or painted to match the wall.
