In the process of renovating our lake house. I am absolutely smitten with the Ralph Lauren look, such as rich deep brown walls, brass picture frames, deep wood, plaid, and gingham. Yesterday I was actually at an upscale furniture boutique in a nearby nautical town and fell in love with this gingham chair.
On the other hand, I just love deep emerald green, bright whites, cream, rustic wood, cedar, open floor plan and the cottage look. Similar to Joanna Gaines style. I’m just so obsessed with emerald green.
These are photos of the house with both styles. I love the brown deep living room but I also love the white and green kitchen/dining room. I want open floor plan and we will be knocking down some walls, but will the transition from a white open kitchen dining room to a dark deep living area be too much of a difference? I also don’t know if I should do something totally different. Thoughts? What look do you prefer? I also attached fabric options for inspo.

I think you need to develop your own style. You like all of these things? You can figure out how to make them work. Try to go for less of an established theme than what you truly like. Add individuality into the space with art and personal objects. A personalized space will always be more interesting than one that sticks to a certain look of theme.
They all look beautiful, but I think I like the brown. I’m almost afraid that the greens are going to go away quickly like gray did. Meaning everyone is doing shades of green and it will move on, but Brown seems like a neutral that always stays in fashion. Of course I could be wrong!
