Looking for options/opinions on what we can do with the arched window above our front door, to block the afternoon sun from blinding us in the living room.

I would try window films – they even have stained glass types if you want color. A little annoying to install but they work well!

Window film. A lightly frosted one so it blocks the sun, but not the light

Film is the easiest fix for that arch. A lightly frosted or solar-control window film just on the transom cuts the blinding beam but keeps the daylight, and it’s perfect for weird shapes. Quick test first: tape a sheet of paper in the arch during peak sun so you can see how much coverage you actually need

If you want adjustable control, go custom arch shade later, but film gets you relief fast. Daylight is a vibe until it becomes a laser
If you want a 2-min comfort check on how the space feels for other people too, glare included: [https://oscillian.com/topics/multi-ability-comfort-fit](https://oscillian.com/topics/multi-ability-comfort-fit?utm_source=chatgpt.com)
